Shangli old town is a place hidden in a far countryside, an old town not over developed yet, you will have a chance to see the real old Chinese architectures and lifestyle in this old town. And the Mengding mountain said to be the birth place of Chinese green tea, there are lots tea farms on the mountain and a big tea museum here. You will have a chance to pick your own tea and processing the tea by yourself if you come in spring or early summer.
8:00 a.m. Drive from Chengdu to Mengding Mountain
Your guide will meet you at 8:00 a.m. At your hotel lobby. It will be 2 hours driving from Chengdu to Mengding Mountain.
10:00 - 12:00 p.m. Visit the tea museum and the tea farms
Arrive at a local family at 10am, do a little walk in their tea farm. The owner will teach you how to pick the green tea and how to processing the tea. You can take home the tea all made by yourself. (tea harvest time: March - June) Then you can follow your guide to visit the Mengding Tea Museum, there are introduction of all kinds of tea here, and the history of this mountain.
12:00 p.m. - 13:00 p.m. Have lunch at local’s house
Having the lunch on Mengding Mountain, you will have a good view of the mountain from your restaurant.
13:00 p.m. - 14:00 p.m. Drive from Mengding Mountain to Shangli Old Town
Drive 50KM to Shangli Old Town
14:00 p.m. - 16:30 p.m. Visit the Shangli Old town
Walk down the old town in the afternoon, visit some grand courtyards which are kept the same from Qing Dynasty. And there is a creek runs through the old town which is a good place for taking a picture. At the end of the town, there is a bridge named Twin Fairy Bridge which is built on 1776AD and some beautiful carving on the bridge.
16:30 p.m. - 18:30 p.m. Return to hotel
After the visit to the old town, your guide and driver will send you back to your hotel.
