Jiuzhaigou and Ruo Er Gai Grassland Five days Overland Tour

Day 1: Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou

Highlights: Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Gan Hai Zi

Get up early in the morning, meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby. Then transfer to your first attraction – Dujiangyan Irrigation System, sightseeing at Yuzui, Feishayan and Baopingkou. After about 4 hours’ driving, you will arrive Gan Hai Zi. You can get off the bus and enjoy the beautiful sightseeing. Overnight near Jiuzhaigou Nationla Park.

The Dujiangyan Irrigation system is a miracle of ancient Chinese ingenuity. Before the completion of Dujiangyan, the plains around the Min River were prone to floods due to the fast moving Min River flowing down from its mountain source and meeting flat ground. It was in the Warring States period about 2200 years ago, that the engineer Li Bing and his son led the construction of the Dujiangyan irrigation system that tamed the Min River and irrigated the surrounding plains.

Gan Hai Zi: Ganhaizi Wet land was located beside the road from Songpan to Jiuzhaigou, it was a massive lake changing into rivers and series of ponds during the crustal movment. With the snow mountains behind, Ganhaizi wetland is very beautiful. When walking in the reed, on a sunset time, you will easily get a perfect picture.

Day 2: Full day sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou

Highlights: Jiuzhaigou National Park

Meet your guide in the hotel lobby, and then go to the park entrance. Get into Jiuzhaigou Park, take a non-pollution bus to the Shuzheng Valley, visit Shuzheng Valley in the morning then take lunch at Nuorilang Tourist Center, visit Zechawa Valley in the afternoon, get back to hotel before dinner and take a good rest after a whole day visitng. Overnight near Jiuzhaigou Nationla Park.

Shuzheng Vally include sites: He Ye Village, Bonsai Shoal, Reed Lake, Jia Wu sacred mountain, Sparkling Lake, Lying dragon Lake, Shuzheng Lakes, Shuzheng Village, Shuzheng waterfall, Tiger Lake, Rhinoceros Lake, Nuorilang Waterfall

Zechawa valley include sites: Zechawa Village, Upper and lower seasonal Lakes, Five colored pond, Long Lake.

Rize Valley includes sites: the virgin Forests, Swan Lake, Grass Lake, Arrow Bamboo Falls, Arrow Bamboo Lake, Panda Lake, Panda Lake Waterfalls, Five Flower Lake, Peacock Riverbed, Golden Bell Lake, Pearl Shoals, Pearl Shoals Waterfall, Mirror Lake, Ri Ze Gou Lakes.

Day 3: Huanglong Hiking, drive to Ruo Er Gai Grassland (Zoige)

Highlishts: Huanglong Park

Drive to Huanglong National Park in the early morning, about 5km waking up to the highest point of the park, you will be astonished by the geography wonder - pure blue pools scattered on the yellow stone beach. Overnight at Ruo Er Gai.

Due to thousands of years of geological evolution, Huanglong consists of numerous unique landscapes of geological landforms. Glacial revolution, terrane structure, stratum of carbonic acid rock, tufa water and climatic conditions such as artic-alpine sun light have created this world-famous travertine landscape.

Day 4: Visit Flower lake and First bend of Yellow river.

Highlishts: Ruo Er Gai Grassland (Zoige), Flower lake and Yellow river.

Drive from Ruo Er Gai county to the Flower Lake which is 120KM away, walk in the lake park and have lunch nearby. Then drive from Flower lake to Tangke county, check in hotel in the downtown and have some rest. Visit the Yellow river park during sunset to see the gorgeous sunset on the first bend of Yellow river. Overnight at Tangke.

The Zoige Marsh, also known as the Ruoergai Marsh or the Songpan Grasslands, is located in the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau and forms the largest high-altitude marsh area in the world. The marsh areas are mainly located in northern Sichuan Province, but extend into southern Gansu and southeastern Qinghai. The marshes are formed in a region of poor drainage that is located between the watersheds of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers, located at an altitude of about 3,600 meters above sea level and cover an area of about 2,600 square kilometers. The marshes were partially drained for grazing of cattle, sheep, and horses in the 1970s. In 1994, a nature preserve was established in the marshes, and Flower lake is located right in the center of the nature preserve. It is called "the glory of Zoige".

Day 5: Drive back to Chengdu from Tangke.

Highlights: Hongyuan Grassland,

Drive 8 hours from Tangke back to Chengdu. Visit Hongyuan county on the way.

Hongyuan County is famous for the grassland and livestock raising. It produces very good milk products, beef and wildflower honey. You will chance to get some when we have lunch at the town of Hongyuan.
